Storm Eunice: Everton hit by major rail disruptions heading to and returning from Southampton

Everton fans travelling to Southampton are facing major disruptions to today’s Premier League clash.
The impact of Storm Eunice means many supporters travelling by rail face missing the game which kicks off at 15. at St Mary’s.

Hide AdAnd those returning via the train are also set to be disrupted, with trains out of the south-coast city to London Waterloo cancelled.
South Western Railway has announced that trains on its network may be ‘cancelled, delayed or revised’ due to the storm, with fallen trees blocking lines.
What’s been said
A statement on its website said: “Due to severe weather all lines are blocked. Train services running across the whole South Western Railway network may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
“Winds of over 90 miles per hour have caused over 40 fallen trees to block routes across our network, and our patrol teams are continuing to find and remove trees on key lines this morning.

Hide Ad“While we are working hard to run as many services as we safely can, we strongly advise you not to travel on our network until further notice. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we’re able to get you to where you need to be, as replacement services will not be available on certain routes.
“We’re sorry for the disruption that this is causing, and thank you for your patience as we deal with the severe impact of Storm Eunice and work to restore services as soon as possible.
”Tickets for travel today will be accepted on Sunday 20th and Monday 21st February. If you are travelling on an advanced ticket on Sunday 20th and Monday 21st February, please try to travel at a similar time to your original booking.”
Many Evertonians are currently stuck in London Waterloo and will miss the game.

Hide AdThose who have made it to Hampshire via train also face disruptions.
And trains out of Southampton Central to the capital this evening have been cancelled.
Twitter account @evertonspares wrote: “**NOTICE** been advised zero trains to Southampton and all trains tonight out of Southampton have already been CANCELLED. Lots of stranded blues down south.”
Other supporters have taken to social media revealing their predicament.
